August 23, 2007 Flint & Walling, Inc. is planning to add 32,060 sq. ft. of manufacturing and warehouse space to their current 205,000 sq. ft. facilities in Kendallville, Indiana. Flint & Walling, established in 1866, is Kendallville's oldest manufacturer. The plans call for construction of the building addition over Harris Street north of the current plant. According to company president Scott Lechner, "Flint & Walling has picked up significant new business due to changes in the market place, and the company is simply out of room. Production volumes of well pumps, sump pumps and water treatment equipment are all up over previous year's volume. In addition, the continuing escalation in outside storage costs has dictated a need for increased company-owned warehouse space. We feel that investing in our current Kendallville, Indiana location makes the most economic sense for the company, to our employees, community, and to our customers, who expect superior value added service from us." Mr. Lechner added, "Due to the seasonality of our business and the winter weather sometimes experienced in the Midwest, there is an urgent need to have the addition completed for the 2008 spring season." Mr. Lechner also wants to thank Kendallville officials for their assistance. "Approvals and cooperation from City of Kendallville officials and Mayor Handshoe have been of key importance in the development and execution of this plan." Flint & Walling, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zoeller Company, a family-owned pump manufacturer headquartered in Louisville, KY. The company manufactures a full line of water pumps, including industrial pumps, well pumps, irrigation pumps, sump, sewage and utility pumps, and has a complete line of water conditioning equipment under their Premier label. |
